Jo March reflects back and forth on her life, telling the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women, each determined to live life on her own terms.

Little Women is one of the greatest novel from Louisa May Alcott. I've already heard so many good things from this book. Unfortunately, I haven't read this book, yet. I don't know. It's been a while for me to read a classic book. Well, I have to admit it's not easy to read a classic book. Therefore, I put aside this book and haven't read it.

Then, there's a new movie adaptation for this book. At first, I think I would like to watch the movie after read the book. But, well, since my internet connection is very slow and I couldn't do my work smoothly, I decided to watch this movie. Finally, I can understand why Little Women got a lot of appreciations.

The Little Women

So, this movie follows the live of March sisters. There are Meg, the eldest; Jo, the second one who is talented in writing; Amy, the third who has interest toward art; and Beth, the younger who can play piano well. They live and spent so much time together. They will laugh, cry, and smile for everything that happened their life.

Now, Jo live as a writer in New York, Meg is married to a teacher, Amy is accompanied Aunt Marie to Europe, and Beth is at home. Every March sisters has their own struggle. They have to work so hard to achieve their goals. But then, Beth is sick. Jo come home as soon as she can. Since then, she learn many things about life and love.

Feminism and patriarchal society

The story of Little Women is not only about how every March sisters life journey. It's about how each of them valuing their life. The main character from this movie is Jo. She is the second eldest and she have much more thought about life compared to her sisters. She realized that somehow women only be seen if they are married. Yeah, the typical patriarchal system's believe.

I have to admit that I never expect this kind of spirit will be appeared on Little Women. So, this will be my another reason that I have to read the novel, right?

For me, each of the character is stand out. I'm very happy knowing Emma Watson play different character here. Well, we won't never get old with her being Hermione Granger, right?

A little bit confusing at the start

At first, I am a little bit confused with the story line of the story. Yes, this movie use a flashback plot. So, there will be so many flashback scene through the entire movie. I have to admit that I couldn't following at first. Somehow, I have a trouble to remember the name of every character.

Then, after a while, finally I could understand the story and loving it. I won't say that historical movie like this would be my favorite. But, I still enjoy to watch this movie.

Conlusion

I should read the novel. I really should.

8.3 out of 10 stars.

Sincerely,

Ra
